Privacy policy
This page says what data we collect on byme.ge, why, and what rights you have.
What we collect
From makers: email (to sign in), name, town, phone, WhatsApp, Instagram, profile and piece texts and photos. Profile and piece texts and photos are public. Phone, WhatsApp and Instagram are not printed on the page: a visitor sees them only after tapping a button.
From buyers: when you create an account you give us an email, a name and, if you like, a phone number; we keep your favorites and your chat messages with makers (only you and the maker can read them). When you write to a maker without an account you send us a name, a contact (phone or email) and a message, and we pass them to the maker. When you report a problem we keep your comment and the contact if you give one.
Technical: we do not store IP addresses directly. To prevent abuse (for example send limits) we use a keyed hash of the address that cannot be turned back into it. We count anonymous views and contacts.
Country: on your first visit we guess the country you are in from your IP address, on our own server with a local database (DB-IP), to show you the work of makers in that country. The address is not sent anywhere and is not stored; only the country code is kept, in a cookie (see below). You can change the country at any time in the header or the footer.
Why
To run accounts, show pieces, connect buyers and makers, moderate, keep the site safe and improve it. We do not sell personal data or hand it to third parties for advertising.
Cookies and browser storage
We use a necessary cookie for the sign-in session and a short-lived cookie at sign-in to return you to the right page. The "region" cookie remembers the chosen or guessed country for a year (just a two-letter code such as GE). Favorites are saved on your account (a copy stays in your browser for speed). There are no advertising cookies. For anonymous visit statistics (how many visitors, which pages are opened and from which country) we use Cloudflare Web Analytics: it uses no cookies, does not track individual people and ignores your profile.
Fonts are served from our own server, so your browser does not contact a third party for them.
Who receives data
Service providers acting for us: database and file hosting (Supabase), web hosting, and email sending (Resend). They use data only to provide the service. We may also disclose data where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Account and piece data until you delete it. A maker can delete pieces and messages on their own page. Reports are kept as long as needed to handle them.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, delete or restrict the processing of your data: write to us. If you think your rights were violated you can contact the Personal Data Protection Service of Georgia.
